How to import Indeed applications automatically

To import Indeed applications into Truffle, turn on Auto-import applicants under the position's Get candidates tab, copy the position's import address, add it to the job's application method in Indeed, and tick Send an individual email each time someone applies. Each application then arrives with the candidate's name and contact address, and your invites reach candidates in their Indeed inbox, with nothing to install and no Indeed login.

Key takeaways

  • There is nothing to install and no Indeed login. Indeed emails each application to the position's own import address, and Truffle reads it.
  • Turn it on from Get candidates, under Auto-import applicants. You confirm once per position that you are allowed to process the applications sent to the address.
  • In Indeed, add the address to the job's application method and tick Send an individual email each time someone applies. Without that box, Indeed sends summaries and nothing imports.
  • Truffle reads the candidate's name and contact address, plus the resume if Indeed attached one (PDF or DOCX). Indeed usually sends no resume, so with Resume scoring on, candidates add theirs on the last step of their interview.
  • Indeed usually gives each candidate a conversation address. Truffle sends invites and reminders to it from your import address, and they arrive in the candidate's Indeed inbox. That needs the address on the job in Indeed. Forwarding Indeed's emails yourself imports the candidate, but the invite is held back.
  • Import activity lists each email that arrives. Anything that could not be imported shows with the reason instead of disappearing.
  • Importing is free. With Resume scoring on, each resume is scored against your criteria for 1 credit once Truffle has it, and nothing is advanced or rejected for you.

Bring your Indeed applications into Truffle automatically, with nothing to install and no Indeed login.

Each position has its own import address. You turn on auto-import under Get candidates, copy the address, and add it to the job’s application method in Indeed, with an individual email for each application. From then on, Truffle reads each application email for the candidate’s name and contact address, and lists what arrives under Import activity. Your invites reach candidates in their Indeed inbox, from your company. Indeed usually sends no resume, so candidates add theirs on the last step of their interview. Truffle scores it against your criteria, and you decide who moves forward.

Here’s how to bring your Indeed applicants into Truffle, automatically. Nothing to install, and no Indeed login. Open the position, and choose Get candidates. On auto-import applicants, choose set up. Confirm once that you’re allowed to process these applications, and turn it on. The position now has its own import address. Copy it. Then, in Indeed, add that address to the job’s application method, and tick send an individual email each time someone applies. Without it, nothing imports. Add it in Indeed itself, and don’t forward Indeed’s emails. That’s what lets your invites reach applicants. From then on, each application imports on its own, with the candidate’s name and their Indeed contact address. Your invite goes to that address, and lands in their Indeed inbox. Import activity lists what arrives. Anything that couldn’t be imported shows there too, with the reason. Turn on resume scoring, and candidates add their resume at the end of the interview. It’s scored against your criteria, with the reasons shown. You decide who moves forward. Start free at hiretruffle.com.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to give Truffle my Indeed login?
No. Truffle never asks for your Indeed login and never signs in to Indeed for you. You give Indeed your position's import address, and Indeed emails each application to it.
Nothing is importing. What is usually wrong?
Almost always, Send an individual email each time someone applies is unticked in Indeed. Adding the address only tells Indeed who to notify. That setting is what sends each application. If a position has had nothing import for a few days, Truffle flags it.
Does this work with Indeed Apply and Easy Apply?
Yes, as long as Indeed sends an individual email for each application. The import reads the email Indeed sends, not the way the candidate applied.
What does an imported candidate cost?
Importing is free. Scoring a resume costs 1 credit, the same as for any candidate whose resume is scored.
Are imported candidates contacted automatically?
It depends on how the position runs. With Apply first, imported candidates wait in your list with everyone else and nothing is sent until you invite them. On a one-sitting position, or one with no resume step, they are invited to their interview automatically. Truffle sends the invite from your import address to the candidate's Indeed conversation address, and it arrives in their Indeed inbox. That needs the address on the job in Indeed. If you forward Indeed's emails yourself instead, Truffle holds the invite back and tells you why.
What happens when a candidate replies in Indeed?
A copy reaches your import address. Truffle logs it under Import activity as 'Replied in Indeed — read it there', without creating a duplicate candidate. You read and answer the reply in Indeed.
