Personality measures stable work-style tendencies using the validated IPIP instrument. Situational Judgment presents real workplace scenarios and measures how a candidate's approach aligns with yours. Environment Fit surfaces whether a candidate's work preferences match the reality of your role. You can use any combination — one, two, or all three — for each position.
Most pre-employment assessments have correct answers, which means candidates (or AI tools) can game them. Truffle's assessments have no universal right answers — they measure alignment between the candidate's approach and your stated preferences. Every scenario in the SJT has four genuinely defensible options. Both ends of every personality trait have real strengths. Both sides of every environment fit question are equally valid. Without knowing what the employer selected, there's nothing to game.
Personality: approximately 5 minutes (Standard, 50 items) or 2 minutes (Express, 20 items). Situational Judgment: approximately 4 minutes (4 scenarios). Environment Fit: approximately 2 minutes (5-8 questions). All three combined take under 12 minutes. Candidates complete from any device without downloads or account creation.
A situational judgment test presents realistic workplace scenarios and asks candidates how they'd respond. In Truffle's version, candidates rank four response options from best to worst for each scenario. The employer sets their preferred approach during setup. Results show alignment between the candidate's instincts and the employer's expectations — not whether the candidate is "smart" or "competent." Each scenario explores a real workplace tension: customer focus vs. policy, speed vs. thoroughness, escalation vs. independence.

Paste your job description and Truffle's AI suggests relevant assessment configurations based on the role. For Personality, you select preferred directions for each trait. For SJT, AI picks relevant scenarios from the library and you select your preferred approach for each. For Environment Fit, AI picks relevant questions and you indicate which option describes your role's reality. Most teams are configured in under five minutes.
Each assessment shows an alignment summary (e.g., "3 of 4 traits aligned" or "5 of 6 preferences align") with a per-question or per-trait breakdown. Results include plain-language interpretation text and interview prompts for any gaps. Results are diagnostic — they inform your conversations, not replace them. Numeric scores are shown for transparency in detail views but the emphasis is on alignment patterns, not rankings.
Truffle's assessments measure alignment to employer-stated preferences, not competence or protected characteristics. The Personality assessment uses IPIP, a validated public-domain instrument. SJT and Environment Fit are proprietary but designed with no correct answers, no auto-rejection thresholds, and transparent scoring.
